Is training with a snorkel a good thing for swimming?
I haven't tried it but I've been Snorkeling. I bet I could go forever if I had a snorkel.
Ok well If you are doing it for the fun of it then you sure can but if you are training i really wouldn't recommend doing it because well you have to learn how to breath and swim really well. Trust me you really need the breathing skills. So i hope i helped! PICK ME AS BEST ANSWER PLEASE!

do you mean for working on improving your times for swimming? because using a snorkel does have its perks, it more resembles race time in that in a race you don't breath as much, but don't only use it if you are trying to improve race cause you need to practice breaths
if not trying to improve times or for some type of race, i find snorkels good because they put no strain on your neck from turning it. but flip turns? can be done but they're over my head with a snorkel on

I don't think it could be much help. Especially if you're swimming competitively. The best thing to do is to train yourself to need less breaths. We used to do this exercise where we would swim a 50 taking a breath every other stroke then we would do less and less, eventually only being allowed to take 4 breaths. It helps out in the long run, the longer you can keep your head down, the faster you will be. If you're just swimming to get in shape, I think that it's a great idea.

yea it would it lets you focus on on your form with out having to worry about breathing to mess up your boyancy- it helps alot with body positioning and head positioning and technique- training with it ALL the time isn't a good thing but with certain parts yes- if you do then you want to get the swimmers snorkle that goes right in front of your face

If you want to improve your swimming, then do it without a snorkel. If you want to get better in snorkeling, then yes, of course, train with a snorkel.
