Snorkeling in Puerto Rico?
I’ll be going to Puerto Rico late next month and I’m looking forward to doing all the touristy things…
We want to go to El Yunque, Arecibo, Camuy, and the biobay…
Now what I’m also trying to find is a not-too-expensive snorkeling trip (around $45 per person)…
Is that too much to ask for?
Where can I find a good excursion?
We really can’t afford to use up all our money on one thing, but don’t want to miss out on the wonderful underwater beauty of the island.
We’ve cut back on costs on many other things (staying with family, not going on the most expensive bio-bay tour, found a rental car at a bargain price…) to make sure we get a chance to do everything on our list.
Everything else is pretty much set… If only we could get affordable snokeling, that would be the best…
Got any ideas?

Trust me guys, I’ve done my homework and googled everything (It’s how I got everything else done) but I can’t find anything affordable enough…
I was hoping to get an answer from someone who’s had personal experience, or lives there and know a special "island secret"…
The tours I’ve found on google are $100+ per person…
Your best and cheapest option:
Take the ferry to Culebra $2.25 each way per person. Then rent Snorkel equipment at the dive shop at the dock. Then take the $3 taxi to Flamenco beach.. Great snorkeling

in naguabo is a small boat,that you can rent, is near to my beach rental also is available for thouse days.

$100 does seem awfully expensive for snorkeling. I’ve gone scuba diving for less than that. If all of the tours are too expensive, I’d suggest just renting the gear or bringing your own and snorkeling from the beaches. Shallow water is best for snorkeling anyway, so if you can find a good beach with a shallow reef adjacent to it, you might see just as much as you’d see on a tour. According to the article below, there are some good sites "near the town of Fajardo, to the east of San Juan and along the tranquil eastern coast."
Not only is beach snorkeling cheaper, but it gives you the freedom to explore. You can try out different sites until you find one you like, then stay as long as you like and relax on the beach afterward or between snorkeling excursions. I haven’t been to Puerto Rico, but I’ve had some great experiences snorkeling from beaches on Maui and Curacao.
You might even want to consider getting a guide book like the one at the third link below. I bought a similar one before going to Bonaire and it had a lot of useful information. It’s almost like a guided tour, but much cheaper.
