HELP! I need to know how to clean a snorkel!! ASAP!
i’m going on a vacation in the Bahamas. i have a snorkel set. but the Snorkel is dirty. really dirty. my trip is on August 15. So…please answer…ASAP!
ps. I have ever used used it before! responf ASAP.
Fill a bucket or a tub with warm water, and then dunk your gear several times to rinse it out thoroughly. In some cases I like to swish it around underwater, and maybe rub the rubber parts to ensure a thorough rinsing. After that, let it drip dry and store it in a cool, dry, *dark* place.
Salt and sunlight are the two things that’ll kill your gear in no time at all, keep it safe from that and it should provide good use for a long time.
*Clean your equipment with fresh water each day. This will remove salt and sand that can cause problems, especially with purge valves. Washing or dunking it while in a mesh bag can make the task fast and easy. Avoid excessive heat. Temperatures above 170°F can damage your equipment. Soak your equipment when you return home from your trip. This will help remove sand and salt that a quick rinse didn’t get. Store your gear in a cool dry place.
To clean your Mask – The best thing to do is to clean all masks with toothPASTE (not gel). This removes a factory film that predisposes masks to fogging. Simply take some toothpaste (non-gritty), dab it on the mask, spread it evenly, and let it sit for an hour or so. Then add a little water, and make sure you clean the entire lens (or lenses). Rinse, and store.
