Snorkels

Enjoy swimming with the best snorkel equipment

Can I snorkel even if I do not know how to swim?

I would like to try how to Snorkel but not sure if it is allowed if I do not know how to swim. Is it possible to try it even if I do not know how to swim?

You could do snorkeling and not know how too swim. All you need is too make sure you have a life jacket and some fins and just keep a steady kick behind you.
Have fun!

Where should I stay in Oahu if I want to snorkel, kayak, and relax? This is for an end of April vacation. thx!

it might be hard considering most people like to be on top of the water when snorkeling.

I wouldn’t recommend it. That’s like asking if it’s OK to take a racecar out for a spin if you don’t know how to drive.

It’s relatively easy to stay afloat while snorkeling especially if you’re wearing an inflatable snorkeling vest. You blow into the vest to inflate it and it functions like a life jacket. This along with proper body position and proper use of the fins will keep you afloat quite easily. But, if something goes wrong, you will be in big trouble if you can’t stand up in the water. The vest could deflate, you could lose a fin, you could lose the snorkel, etc. Then, you would have to swim back to the boat with the possibility of waves tossing you around and getting saltwater in your eyes.

If you really want to, put on some snorkeling gear and try to do it in a swimming pool. Keep your body flat and only paddle your feet to move. Keep your face looking down while breathing thru the snorkel. This should be easy to do, but again if something goes wrong, you’ll have a problem.

Yes you can. Put on a lifejacket and always have a friend next to you that knows how to swim all time in case you panic.
